Hard Group 4 wheat DSV Champion continues to lead the latest 2024 AHDB Harvest Results published on September 6th with the highest yield for both 2024 and the five-year average yield.
In a challenging year with high disease pressure, DSV Champion’s fungicide treated yield stands at 110% of controls with its five-year average yield at 107%.
With results from 21 of the 27 trial sites expected to report now in, DSV Champion is in a strong position befitting its outstanding yield potential and excellent agronomics, says DSV UK’s Sarah Hawthorne.
“It’s not called Champion for nothing. The variety currently holds the Guinness world record for wheat yield at 17.96t/ha and is the first choice variety for a growing number of UK producers.
“Outright yield is impressive but the five-year results also point to the variety’s remarkable consistency across a range of very different growing conditions that have included everything from droughts to waterlogging.
"It's one of the few varieties to have genuinely overcome the ‘yield/resistance’ trade-off in a variety of production scenarios and is one of the highest yielding wheats on the current RL when grown as either a first or second cereal.
"It’s a versatile performer on heavy and light soils and great later driller too, with its powerful growth habit giving it one the highest scores for this on the RL together with a latest safe sowing date of mid-February. It’s a truly impressive all-rounder.
“Group 4 hard wheat DSV Oxford has also performed well in the latest AHDB Harvest Results with a yield of 106% of controls for 2024 and a five-year average yield of 104%.”
